This recipe is for my Divas suffering from hot flashes, night sweats, zero sex drive, anxiety, insomnia and dry, thinning skin. Menopause is a blessings and a beautiful transition that brings you into the wisdom-filled third age.
You shouldn’t have to be dead tired and suffering through this magical time. Suffering includes crash diets and crazy health regimes too, friend.
That is why I’ve developed this delicious and nourishing smoothie that contains a wide variety of essential nutrients for healthy menopause. It may not be super pretty, but it’s dang delicious. Beauty’s in the eye of the beholder anyway.
Spinach used to be a lot more popular until kale came on the scene. The truth is that spinach is just as high, if not higher, in some nutrients than kale. Spinach contains omega 3s which are super anti-inflammatory. The fibre it contains helps to move bowels and excess hormone-disrupting toxins with it. Spinach’s B vitamins and magnesium keep you feeling calm, peaceful and sharp, while the vitamin E could reduce hot flashes. Spinach has vitamin C (use spinach raw to get C) for healthy vascular function (aka hot-flash city) and immune health.
Kiwi + Blueberries
Kiwis contain vitamin C + E, magnesium and fibre- all great for reducing symptoms of menopause, balancing blood sugar and improving stamina.
Blueberries are full of antioxidants, and are known brain + blood sugar protectors. Additionally, their vitamin C + E, fibre and magnesium make them a menopause-busting powerhouse.
Used for thousands of years as a food and symbol for fertility, pomegranates work by regulating estrogen production. While you’re not thinking about having babies anymore, this function is helpful because estrogen production declines as you age, and can sometimes plummet if you have stressed out adrenal glands.
Delicious little calcium packets, also full of magnesium. This duo protects bone health, regulates vascular function and so makes menopause more bearable. Sesame seeds contain tryptophan, a feel-good amino acid used to manufacture happy-making serotonin and sleep-inducing melatonin.
Like pomegranate, flax seeds are phytoestrogens, and will regulate estrogen in your body. This will keep you feeling confident, lubricated and sexy. The omega 3s in flax are anti-inflammatory, and they’ve got great bowel-moving fibre. Flax seeds are a good source of vitamin B6, which can lift your mood if you’re feeling blue.
A delicious daily drink that will give you all the nutrients you need for healthy menopause. Hot flashes + dry vag need not apply.

- 1/4 avocado
- 1-2 servings collagen protein powder (2-4 tbsp)
- 1-2 cups raw organic spinach
- 1/2 kiwifruit, peeled
- 2 tbsp pomegranate arils
- 1/4 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- 1 tbsp flax seeds (or 1 tsp flax oil)
- Liquid base of choice, enough for desired consistency
- - coconut milk (canned or carton), almond milk, water, Hot Flash Tea (find on my website!)
- 1-2 Vitamin D drops (assuming 1000IU per drop) [optional]
- 1/4 cup plain kefir or yogurt [optional]
- Place everything in a high-powered blender and blend until super smooth. Drink immediately.
